Things to Do in Tampa: Experience Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park

by Nicolas A Scaron PLLC

One of my favorite spots to recommend in downtown Tampa is Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, at 600 N Ashley Dr, Tampa, FL 33602. It's an easy place to unwind and take in some of the best views in the city.

Why It's Worth a Visit

It's an 8-acre green space right on the Hillsborough River — a real break from the city around it. Good for a quiet picnic, an outdoor event, or bringing your dog.

What to Do There

Take in the views. The riverfront and skyline are especially good at sunset. The Tampa Riverwalk runs right through, connecting the park to other downtown spots.

Catch an event. The park hosts concerts, cultural festivals, outdoor movie nights, and Winter Village during the holidays.

Bring the family. The Glazer Children's Museum is right next door. There are two interactive fountains and a playground for the kids, plus a fenced-in dog park if you're bringing a pet.

Get active. Plenty of open green space for yoga, jogging, or just reading outside. You can also rent a water bike or kayak nearby and get out on the river.

Grab a bite. Downtown Tampa has a strong food scene close by — plenty of good options after your visit.

The park is open daily and free to the public. For events and details, check tampa.gov.
